5 signs the roofer at your door is a storm chaser

They found you, not the other way around
A knock the morning after the storm, a flyer on the door, a truck with out-of-state plates. Crews follow storms from state to state. They move on after the hail season, so they won't be here to honor a warranty.

They want a signature on the porch
Some ask you to sign a “contingency agreement” or an assignment of your insurance benefits before you've compared anyone. Don't sign anything on the doorstep.

They offer to “take care of” your deductible
Waiving or hiding a deductible is a red flag. It can put your claim, and you, in a bad spot with your insurer.

They can't give you a Utah license number
Every legitimate Utah roofer has a DOPL license you can look up in under a minute. Ask for it. Then check it.

Their reviews start the week it hailed
Look for years of local reviews, not a burst of new ones. A real local company has history in your neighborhood.
